Thieves oil dates back to the year 1413 when the Black Plague devastated a large portion of France, spreading much like COVID19. Certain thieves seemed immune to the disease, they committed crimes against Black Plague victims and had no fear of coming in contact with the plague. The King found out and demanded to know their secret. Four of the thieves were caught and brought before the King. He gave them a choice to either share their secret formula of “immunity” or be burned at the steak. Needless to say, the King immediately shared the thieves secret formula all over the town. The secret was the oils they rubbed on their bodies. They studied apothecary, they had knowledge about how to use oils medicinally and prophylactically against disease.  (Thieves Story recorded in the Royal English Archives)
